Barbara Perica is a founder and designer behind BARBARA PERICA DESIGNS, trendy and environment-friendly design studio fueled by her passion and vision to craft smart and stylish fashion accessories and other items using different recycling materials.
The studio is based in Zagreb, Croatia.
It all started with a dream of becoming a fashion designer with a conscience and a bright and unique idea!
The idea was that her designs would be made from recycled materials and will have an interesting subject that would fulfill the criteria of aesthetics, authenticity, and contemporary design.
She decided to play around with rubber first because rubber as a material provides a variety of options, and to craft, from old tires: purses, wallets, belts, and more.
"Every day something new and unique would be created, and it wasn't long before she has realized that her designs are taking life of their own in their uniqueness, functionality, and aesthetics ... it was beyond her own expectations".
When her designs were first shown to the public, the response was WOW!
"GOOMA," is a Croatian word for rubber. There, the
GOOMA-BRAND was born!
Gooma-Brand, as a business brand, was officially conceived in the summer of 2012 by introducing two
design collections:
. Gooma Bags, a unique, handmade bags of different styles and sizes.
. Gooma Pots, decorative, multipurpose containers.
It marked the beginning of a new, adventurous, successful business.
Barbara’s continuous search for new recycling materials subsequently created the YEDRO.brand by using old recycled sails and POSHTA.brand by using old recycled post-carry-on mailbags to craft more fashion accessories and other cool items.
DESIGNER
BARBARA PERICA is a famous Croatian designer endowed with uniquely creative and innovative design ideas, fit equally for an environment and fashion world.
A native of Zagreb, Croatia, she graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts. After spending several years as a graphic designer for a significant Croatian newspaper, she pursued her dream of becoming a FASHION DESIGNER WITH A CONSCIENCE.
In her desire to create different ecological items, which she would like to wear as fashion accessories, she started to craft from old tires: purses, wallets, belts, and more under gooma.brand. That was the beginning of a successful joy-full endower.
She lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia, where she continues to search for new ideas while practicing
her craft. It’s her life’s passion.
